The Reaction of the Ombudsman to the fact of landmine stepping by a serviceman of the Army of Azerbaijan

The landmines buried by the Armed Forces of Armenia and Armenian illegal armed groups in the territories of Azerbaijan continue to pose hazards to human lives.

Thus, Khayyam Eminov, a serviceman of the Azerbaijani Army, got injured by stepping on the anti-personnel landmine planted on the supply road in the territory of Aghdam by the intelligence-sabotage group of the Armenian illegal armed groups aimed at committing provocation.

I deeply regret to inform you that, despite our repeated demands, the exact maps of minefields have not yet been provided by the Armenian side. The failure of the international community and influential international organizations to influence Armenia causes the continuation of similar provocations by the latter, which resulted in numerous human costs or serious injuries.

As the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Republic of Azerbaijan, I strongly condemn such provocations by Armenia and call on the world community to put pressure on Armenia to prevent mine terror that threatens the lives of civilians and our servicemen and to hand over the accurate minefield maps.
