The Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan Elmira Suleymanova became full member of Turkic World Studies International Academy of Sciences (TWSIAS) and was rewarded with the International Gold Medal for her contribution to the world science and culture, great services in the protection of human rights.
The representative of this organization for Azerbaijan, scientist Elchin Iskandarzada presented the full member diploma of the Academy, International Gold Medal and the certificate to Elmira Suleymanova.
E. Iskandarzada informed the participants on the broad activity, success of the TWSIAS in scientific sphere and expressed his pride for presenting the awards to the Azerbaijani Ombudsman, the worthy person, having scientific-practical acknowledgements and extensive experience in human rights. He spoke about the rich biography of prominent intellectual E.Suleymanova, who is known in the entire Turkic world and international sphere, hailed her comprehensive activity as scientist, state and public figure, also as the Commissioner for Human Rights.
It was highlighted that the achievements of scientist’s life, her researches, original ways and technological processes to obtain new chemicals are reflected in more than 260 scientific works, over 40 inventions, patents, author certificates of E.Suleymanova, who gained the titles of USSR Honorary Chemist, USSR Inventor, doctor of chemical sciences, professor and supervised 5 doctors of sciences, 16 philosophy doctors.
Also the information was given on her important services in the development of women’s movement in our republic, participation in the congress of Azerbaijani women, activity in international level, founding Azerbaijan Women and Development Center, Azerbaijan Child and Youth Peace Network and its Leadership School, at the same time Resource Center for the Elderly, NGO Alliance on Protection of Rights of the Women, Children and Youth, which also continue activity now.
It was stated that as a consequence of high work efficiency, great reputation gained inside and outside E.Suleymanova was elected as the first Ombudsman of Azerbaijan by the Milli Mejlis among three candidates nominated for the position of Commissioner for Human Rights by the National leader Heydar Aliyev in 2002. After that she was again elected as the Commissioner, while her candidacy was nominated for the second time by the country President Ilham Aliyev.
Comprehensive activity of the Ombudsman in the field of human rights, achievements of the Institution, high honors conferred by the state, including “Sharaf” and “Shohrat” Orders, the Officer’s Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland decorated by the Polish President in 2008 were emphasized.
E.Suleymanova expressed her deepest appreciation for awards of the Academy and pride of being a member of such a reputable scientific center. She spoke about her philosophy of life, scientific and social activity and noted the significant role of Heydar Aliyev in the establishment process and Ilham Aliyev in the development of the Institution.
The Commissioner recommended the staff members to always serve our people loyally, honestly, faithfully, via regularly improving education, professionally, purposefully and transmitting national moral values to the next generations.
The Head of the Ombudsman Office Aydin Safikhanly congratulated the Commissioner sincerely on behalf of the whole staff, expressed his best wishes. He underlined that the Ombudsman always supports the development of employees, especially the youth and highly assesses their successful steps taken forward future.
