National Preventive Group visited TDP of Lankaran City Police Department

Upon the instruction of the Commissioner, National preventive Group (NPG) members conducted a visit to TDP of Lankaran city–rayon police Department without prior notice.

The goal of this visit was to assess general detention conditions and treatment of the detained persons, as well as to evaluate the ensuring the rights of the detainees.  

During the visit all corpses of the facility, the quality of food, nutrition, healthcare service, walking and state of ensuring other rights of the detained persons were monitored, and documentation on legality of detention was examined.  In order to assess the treatment in the facility, the detainees were privately interviewed.

The interviewed detainees did not complain about detention conditions and treatment. Each of them were given legal consultations, explained their rights, the requirements of the legislation. Moreover, their applications to Ombudsman were listened to and some applications were solved on spot.

At the end of the visit, the administration was given recommendations in compliance with national and international laws.
