Ombudsman of Azerbaijan, Sabina Aliyeva, gave an interview to Graeme Wilson, head of the “Media Prima Advertising” Co.
During the interview about the book "Revival of Karabakh: from Tragedy to Triumph (The Story of Azerbaijan's Revival)" prepared within the framework of the “Karabakh Revival Fund” project, Ombudsman gave information on her activities to inform the international community about Armenia’s war crimes committed against Azerbaijan, as well as the realities of our country. In addition, she informed the interviewer about the reintegration process during the post-conflict period, based on questions from Mr. G. Wilson.
Ombudsman, speaking about Armenia's policy of occupation and terrorism against Azerbaijan, stated that nearly 4000 of our citizens were gone missing during the First Karabakh War, and information regarding their fate is still not available.
Detailing the fact-finding missions that were conducted in the areas, where Armenia targeted our civilian population, as well as in conflict-affected areas during the Second Karabakh War and in the post-conflict period, the Ombudsman also said that the prepared mission reports, statements, and appeals were submitted to local and international organizations, ombudspersons, and national human rights institutions of other countries.
Voicing the importance of measures taken to ensure peaceful coexistence in the region, S. Aliyeva noted that our state makes efforts to guarantee the rights and reintegration of Armenian-origin residents. She also pointed out that upholding and ensuring the human rights and freedoms of Armenian-origin citizens living in Karabakh are always in focus, adding that procedures on how to appeal to the Ombudsman was provided. The Ombudsman spoke about the meeting that she had with Armenian-origin residents in Khankendi city, also saying that the situation regarding upholding their rights and freedoms was also under her focus.
Adding to that, Ombudsman also provided information about her activities in legal public awareness education aimed at developing legal thinking and legal culture in society, highlighting that events are organized to protect the rights of vulnerable groups and other related topics.
