Staff members of the Ombudsman Office participated in the commemoration ceremony of our missing compatriots

Some staff members of the Ombudsman Office of Azerbaijan took part in the commemoration ceremony of the family members of the missing persons held with the financial support of the Representation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Azerbaijan.

The ceremony brought together also staff members of the ICRC Representative Office in our country, members of families of missing persons, executive authorities of Garadagh and Binagadi districts, and representatives of non-governmental organizations.

Ms. Ziba Mammadova, a staff member of the Ombudsman Office, while speaking at the event, said that since the very beginning of her activity the Ombudsman, Ms. Sabina Aliyeva has regularly raised the issue of the fate of nearly 4,000 of our compatriots who have disappeared as a result of Armenia's continued military aggression against Azerbaijan, and tries to draw attention of international organizations to the problems regarding our missing compatriots caused by Armenia.

During the speech, it was also added that the Ombudsman, who was on a visit to Strasbourg these days, during her meeting with the President of the European Court of Human Rights said that Armenia is responsible for the issues related to our missing compatriots, and brought attention to Armenia’s gross violations of the norms of human rights and international humanitarian law, the principle of "respect for family life" and its failure to comply with these obligations.
