The delegation of experts from the Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC IPHRC) that is on an official visit to our country at the invitation of Azerbaijani Ombudsman Ms. Sabina Aliyeva, is carrying out a fact-finding mission in Aghdam together with the staff of the Ombudsman Office.
The main purpose of the fact-finding mission is to conduct on-site investigations in the liberated Azerbaijani lands, also the territories subjected to rocket attacks and collect pieces of evidence and develop a report based on the results and send it to international organizations.
The delegation is inspecting residential buildings, civilian objects, religious, cultural, and historical monuments destroyed by the Armenian military during the occupation in Aghdam.Monitoring is being carried out on the site of Panahali Khan mausoleum, Aghdam Juma, and Giyasli mosques, as well as other cultural and social facilities in the city that were destroyed.
The delegation members inspected the mined areas in Agdam during the occupation.The head of the Ombudsman Office, Mr. Aydin Safikhanli, who is also a member of the OIC IPHRC, briefed the delegation on the serious threat posed by landmines and other explosive remnants of war to human life and health, as well as the information on mine victims.
