The Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ms. Sabina Aliyeva received a delegation of experts led by the Chairman of the Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC IPHRC).
The Ombudsman Ms. Sabina Aliyeva comprehensively informed the guests about the gross violation of human rights of our compatriots because of Armenia's 30-year policy of aggression, occupation, and terrorism against Azerbaijan, as well as crimes committed against civilians.
The Commissioner stated that since September 27, 2020, during the Armenian aggression against our country with new territorial claims, as a result of the use of prohibited weapons against residential facilities, social objects, historical and cultural monuments were subjected to destructions, as well as there were many human casualties among civilians, including children, women and the elderly. The Commissioner also stressed that the Republic of Azerbaijan exercised its right of self-defense and with the launch of counter-offensive operations by our brave army under the leadership of Supreme Commander-in-Chief to restore the integrity of its ancient lands, historical justice was established, and our territories that were under occupation, were liberated.
In the course of the meeting discussions were held on the fact-finding mission, war crimes committed by Armenia against Azerbaijan, the destruction of cultural monuments and the consequences of environmental terrorism.
OIC IPHRC Chairman Mr. Saeed Mohamed Abdullah Omair Alghfeli expressed his deep gratitude to the Ombudsman of Azerbaijan Ms. Sabina Aliyeva for the invitation. The guests exchanged views on the goals and objectives of the fact-finding mission.
As reported, the OIC IPCHR Chairman Mr. Saeed Mohamed Abdullah Omair Alghfeli, Deputy Chairman Mr. Açikgül Haci Ali, Director of the Commission Secretariat Mr. Javed Saglain, Executive Director of the Commission Secretariat Mr. Butt Marghoob Saleemare are on an official visit to our country at the invitation of the Ombudsman in order to carry out the joint fact-finding mission in the liberated lands and in the areas destroyed by rocket attacks targeting civilian population and objects in the territories located far from zone of active hostilities during the Second Karabakh War.
