Afgan Sadigov was once again received by the members of the National Preventive Group of the Ombudsman

The requests concerning the health status and ensuring the rights of Afgan Sadigov held in the Treatment Facility of the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice are in the focus of the Ombudsman Sabina Aliyeva. 

On January 25, 2021, according to the instruction of the Ombudsman, the NPM members once more received A. Sadigov within the frames of their visit to that facility. During the confidential meeting with him, he justified his food denial due to his discontent of the criminal case against him and a court decision.   

In the facility, the health status of A. Sadigov was discussed in presence of doctor, and the administration of the facility was given appropriate recommendations on how to further control his health. Currently, he is not in a coma, he is provided with all necessary medical services, and during the meeting, he did not complain about medical care.

A.Sadigov thanked the Ombudsman for the investigation of and attention to his case.

It must be noted that from the very beginning of his detention, Sadigov was received by the NPM members and taking into account his health status, his transferring from Baku Pre-trial Detention Facility to the Treatment Facility of the Penitentiary Service was ensured. Since his transfer, his daily health status was taken under control and the public was informed on the concerned issue through mass media.

Sumgayit Court of Appeal was made requests by the Ombudsman with regard to the case of Sadigov.
