The Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan Sabina Aliyeva has developed an interim report on casualties among children as a result of rocket attacks by Armenian military on populated areas in Azerbaijan and sent it to relevant international organizations.
The main purpose of preparing such a report was to inform international community, including international human rights organizations about the facts of human casualties, especially child deaths, as a result of heavy artillery shelling of civilian settlements in Azerbaijan between September 27 to November 9, 2020.
This report is based on the findings of the Ombudsman’s six fact-finding missions conducted in conflict-affected areas in order to investigate gross human rights violations at different times. The report also emphasizes the death of 12 children and seriously injuring of other 50 as a result of that military provocation.
Through this report, the international community was called on to take precautionary measures and strong action with the purpose to prevent serious human rights abuses in the future, as well as to express a harsh reaction within the norms and principles of international law.
