European Network of National Human Rights Institutions (ENNHRI)
The European Network of National Human Rights Institutions (ENNHRI) was established in 2013. ENNHRI is the leading regional platform bringing together national human rights institutions (NHRIs) across the European region.
ENNHRI’s activities are based on the UN Paris Principles, and the network aims to strengthen the independence, institutional capacity, and role of NHRIs within international human rights mechanisms. ENNHRI works closely with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, the European Union, the Council of Europe, and the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI).

ENNHRI aims and objectives
The main objectives of ENNHRI are as follows:
● Enhancing the NHRI institutional and operational capacity;
● Promoting the exchange of knowledge and experience in the field of human rights;
● Ensuring the coordinated participation of NHRIs in international and regional human rights mechanisms;
● Supporting the alignment of national legislation and policy documents with international human rights standards;
● Promoting compliance with the Paris Principles and contributing to accreditation processes.

Cooperation between the Ombudsman Institution of Azerbaijan and ENNHRI
Since 2015, the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) Institution of the Republic of Azerbaijan has been a member of the ENNHRI and collaborates with NHRIs in the European region within the ENNHRI framework.
The Ombudsman Institution within the framework of ENNHRI:
● Participates in the network’s annual General Assemblies and parallel thematic sessions.
● Engages in discussions on the independence and operational effectiveness of NHRIs;
● Exchanges international experience through thematic seminars, webinars, and expert discussions.
● Analytical reports, opinion papers, and recommendations prepared by ENNHRI are utilized by the Ombudsman Institution of Azerbaijan in the areas of scientific-analytical work and international cooperation.
● Cooperation with ENNHRI makes a significant contribution to strengthening the activities of the Ombudsman Institution of Azerbaijan in line with the Paris Principles, expanding its engagement with international human rights mechanisms, and developing regional cooperation among NHRIs.
