Opinion of the Ombudsman on involvement of children by Armenia in the war against Azerbaijan

Armenia uses children in the war against Azerbaijan. This is absolutely unacceptable. Instead of ending the occupation of Azerbaijani territories, withdrawing their armed forces from Azerbaijan, complying with international law, Armenia employs children and violates the principles of the international humanitarian law.

Thus, according to Article 38 of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, State Parties undertake to respect and abide by international humanitarian law relating to children in armed conflict. According to paragraph 2 of the same article, all feasible measures shall be taken by States Parties to ensure that persons who have not attained the age of fifteen years do not take a direct part in hostilities.
