As it is well known, constant and purposeful actions are being continued by the State to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19). During the past period of special quarantine regime, as a legitimate result of the taken urgent measures, the number of infections has fallen, the deaths got down and the number of the recovered, being treated in special hospitals has prevailed the cases of new infections. However, following the mitigation of the special quarantine regime, the number of infections has increased again mainly since many people do not follow certain rules launched, including requirements for keeping social distancing, using protective equipment such as medical masks, and standards for personal hygiene. Doubtless, at this challenging time, the effectiveness of the fight against the pandemic depends on civilian behaviors and responsibility. At the same time, the media outlets should publicly support the state in disease containment through properly organizing awareness-raising and propaganda in this area.
Regretfully, we should acknowledge that it is now the media outlets circulating the coronavirus pandemic-related conspiracy theories, without having any scientific basis, examination, and analysis. Consequently, this, in turn, negatively affects public opinion, gives rise to misconceptions, and minimizes social responsibility. So, society refuses simple rules like to wear a face mask, to keep social distancing, and to follow personal hygiene. We urge both, mass media outlets and social network users to demonstrate civic responsibility and avoid disseminating groundless news.
