On June 8, 2020, videos and photos were disseminated through websites and social networking sites about detention of citizens, who violated the rules during the strict quarantine regime, by police officers in Yasamal district of Baku.
Everyone must obey the law and any violation of law should be assessed only within the legal framework.
In this regard, the Ombudsman has taken control over the information in the online sources and social media. Detained persons have been heard in person on site; their appelas are currently investigated. As well as each appeal lodged by family members of detainees is investigated by immediately reacting. Every unlawful action will be legally assessed.
The Ombudsman has addressed the Minister of Internal Affairs with regard to first incoming appeals.
