The Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan Sabina Aliyeva held a meeting with the World Bank delegation led by Eva Melis, the public sector specialist.
The Ombudsman spoke about the activities in the field of protection, propagation and promotion of human rights, consistent and purposeful work in protection and restoration of human and civil rights and freedoms in comply with the country Constitution, the national legislation and international conventions, which the Republic of Azerbaijan is a party to, as a functional body on the basis of principles of publicity, transparency, legality, justice and impartiality. Sabina Aliyeva informed the guests about the directions of activities carried out by Ganja, Guba, Sheki and Jalilabad regional centers of the institution.
At the meeting, the issues regarding development of Ombudsman institution’s infrastructure and creation of e-document circulation system were discussed. The special attention of the country President to the establishment of e-document circulation, acceleration of transition to e-government, implementation of innovative initiatives serving citizens’ satisfaction were brought to the notice.
Eva Melis thanked for the warm welcome and stressed the importance of the meeting in terms of building and developing future bilateral cooperation.
