Range of awareness events dedicated to the Youth Day are held

Series of events on the occasion of February 2- Youth Day are being organized by the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan Elmira Suleymanova.

Such events were proceeded by Ganja Regional Center in the Youth House Social Service Establishment of Tovuz district, by Sheki Regional Center in Mingachevir city, Gamarvan village of Gabala rayon and Sheki city Lyceum on Physics and Mathematics, by Jalilabad Regional Center at Jalilabad Medical and Music-Art Schools, in Lankaran city, by Guba Regional Center at Gusar city School No.6 and in its office with participation of staff members of the state bodies, educational workers, numerous youth members, students of higher classes of the secondary schools, representatives of public .

The Heads of Regional Centers conveyed Ombudsman’s congratulations and warm wishes on the occasion of the Youth Day. During speeches, they underlined that state youth policy established by National leader Heydar Aliyev put deeper marks in further development of the Azerbaijani youth. The National Leader signed Decree on February 2, 1997 declaring Azerbaijani Youth Day that is now solemnly celebrated in our country.

Today the youth policy is an integral part of the state policy, youth demonstrate social activism, play an important role in the implementation of political, economic, humanitarian and social events. Our youth has become a leading power in the society thanks to the wide opportunities created by state, thus they take confident steps for the future of country in compliance with the SDGs.

It has been noted that the state youth policy established by Heydar Aliyev is proceeded with consistent improvement by his worthy successor, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev. Patriotism spirit and citizenship position of youth have strengthened, volunteering movement has expanded as a result of the Eurovision Song Contest 2012, the First European Games 2015, Formula 1 Baku Grand Prix and the 4^th Islamic Solidarity Games 2017.

Founding the Youth Fund under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Presidential Awards for the support of professional and talented youth also stimulate comprehensive development. Awareness of the youth on human rights, gender equality, environment and other issues is considered in the State Program on Azerbaijani Youth in 2017-2021 successfully implemented at present.

It was mentioned that Youth houses in Baku and regions expanded the circle of interest for young people for organizing their leisure time meaningful and efficient. Several actual topics on awareness-raising, necessity of protecting youth from harmful habits, malicious information were discussed among participants and numerous proposals were put forward on employment of the young people in regions.

The attendees conveyed their thanks to the Ombudsman for awareness-raising events regularly held in regions.
