Based on the plan-agreements between Ombudsman Office, and the Minister of Defense, the Command of the Civil Defense Troops of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and with Ministry of Internal Affairs regular monitoring are being underway.
Ombudsman’s staff members Mr. Fazail Hasanov, head of the military unit and Mr. Murad Babayev, senior adviser, carried out monitoring in High Military School of the Internal Troops under the Ministry of Internal Affairs and “X” military units located in Baku city.
The purpose of the monitoring was to inspect the living conditions and treatment of military servicemen and to study the human rights situation in these military institutions.
After the inspection of all objects in those facilities, getting familiar with the living and education conditions for military servicemen and cadets, quality of food, treatment and of healthcare, and finding some other new positive accomplishments like payment of stipends to cadets in the military school through debit cards and installation of Taxophones in several places within the premises of the military units in order to enable military servicemen to contact with their family members during their free time were evaluated positively by the Ombudsman’s representatives.
Ombudsman’s representatives held awareness talks with the military personnel and gave recommendations to the command of the military units to further improve the work done.
