Representatives of Ombudsman attended event dedicated to the International Day for Protection of Children

Child and Youth Creativity Center No.4 under the Ministry of Education and school No.21 of Yasamal district jointly held award ceremony for the winners of “Me and my rights” painting contest with respect to the International Day for Protection of Children.

Representatives of the Ombudsman participated at this event, which was also attended by the Head of Yasamal District Executive Power, Chairman of New Azerbaijan Party Yasamal organization, Head of UNICEF mission to Azerbaijan, teachers, students and parents.

The Head of a Unit of the Ombudsman Office congratulated the participants on the occasion of the May 28-Republic Day and June 1- the International Day for Protection of Children and gave information about the comprehensive activity of the Ombudsman institution in the field of children’s rights.

It was noted that the Azerbaijani state safeguards the protection of the children’s rights and interests, finding out and developing their talent.  

He stated about the celebration of June 18 as Human Rights Day in our country according to the Order of the President Ilham Aliyev dated June 18, 2007. Discussions regarding the protection and promotion of human rights, participation of children and youth in different awareness-raising measures, also in contests within the Human Rights Month-long campaign, which is traditionally held with regard to the abovementioned date at the initiative of the Ombudsman.

Moreover, the Commissioner annually holds “Me and My Rights” children’s painting competitions on the occasion of December 10- International Human Rights Day, where numerous schoolchildren from Baku and regions are awarded certificates and prizes.

Organizers of the event mentioned that the contest was arranged on nominations for three age groups (6-10, 10-14, 14-17), 70 persons among 500 were awarded 1st, 2nd, 3rd places respectively.

During the awarding, the representative congratulated the winners on behalf of the Ombudsman and wished success in their education and creative activity.
