Staff member of the Ombudsman Office attended conference held at ADA University

Recently an international conference on “Approaching Europe: national agendas and common goals” was held at ADA University.

At the conference dedicated to the presidency of Romania  in the Council of the European Union (EU)  the Ambassador of this country to Azerbaijan Dan Ianchu delivered a speech stating that they are in charge of striving to strengthen the cooperation, stability, security in the region and targeting to widen the relations with neighbors as well. 

The Ambassador mentioned the consideration of relations in framework of the Eastern Partnership in which Azerbaijan also takes part.

The international conference was attended by the Deputy-Minister of Ministry of International Affairs Mahmud Mammad-Guliyev, the Head of the EU Delegation to Azerbaijan Kestutis Jankauskas, former Minister of International Affairs of Romania Lazar Komanesku and was moderated by theVice-Rector of the ADA University Fariz Ismailzade.

The Ombudsman Institution that gained positive practice as a result of participation in several projects in the field of human rights conducted with support of the EU, including Twinning, TAIEX and other programs, was represented at the event by the chief consultant of the Legal awareness Unit of the Office Aydan Talibova.

The Deputy-Minister noted in his speech, the provision of European energy security hold a special place in relations with the EU. Azerbaijan implements large-scale projects like TANAP, TAP and acts as the initiator and participant  of numerous large transportation-logistics projects connecting Europe to Asia.

The Head of the EU Delegation stated that the next round on new agreement  between Azerbaijan and EU will be held in mid-February, and the negotiations will mainly cover trade and political topics.

At the end of the conference, the important role of Azerbaijan in ensuring energy security of the region and the interest of the EU Member States of the for development of cooperation on this field were brought to the attention of participants.
