Ombudsman initiates Human Rights Month-long campaign

Azerbaijan celebrates Human Rights Day on 18 June according to the Presidential Order of 2007.

Taking into consideration the above-mentioned Order, on 18 May the Commissioner, as always, initiated to conduct Human Rights Month-long campaign in a view to identify achievements and to address the challenges to eliminate them.

Eventually, the Commissioner requested state authorities, city and regional executive authorities and National NGO Forum in written.

Within this Month-long campaign, state bodies, non-governmental bodies and media, communities, and international organizations arranged range of events and discussions in accordance with the 2011 National Action Program on human rights.

Organization of such months enable various groups of population to raise their legal-awareness, to develop not only legal thinking, but also restore the violated rights and develop civil society.   

During this Month-long campaign, relevant bodies must submit written information on conferences, legal awareness events and recommendations regarding effective ensuring human rights and works done until 11 June of the same year. 

Later, the outcomes of the campaigns were analyzed, summarized and made publicly available.
