Reaction of the Ombudsman to Armenia’s next act of mine terror

Armenia's mine terror continues to pose a threat to and claim the lives of civilians and our servicemen.

Three mine incidents that occurred on 6th October resulted in the deaths of one civilian, and the injuries of one serviceman of the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and a civilian.

Landmines buried by Armenia in our liberated territories pose a serious threat to the safety of civilians and our servicemen and seriously impede the peace-building process in the region, the implementation of infrastructure projects, and the return process of the former internally displaced persons to their native lands.

Despite numerous appeals, Armenia's refusal to provide accurate mine maps to our country has resulted in the loss of the lives of both civilians and servicemen. This action by Armenia once again demonstrates their lack of interest in restoring peace in the region.

As the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, I strongly demand Armenia hand over accurate mine maps to our country, take joint efforts for the restoration of regional peace, and call for the international community to impose appropriate sanctions against Armenia’s mine terror.
