Within the framework of child rights month-long campaign legal awareness work was carried out for juveniles in Correction Facility of the Penitentiary Service and Baku Investigation Isolator.
The event was attended by Rashid Rumzade, head of National Preventive Group (NPG) and Vugar Heydarov, the member of NPG.
They informed participants about rights and duties envisaged in existing international and national legislation, Convention on the Right of Child, Beijing Rules and Ar-Riyad Instructions; protection mechanisms of these rights; preventive measures to be taken.
They also focused on Ombudsman’s multi-dimensional activity in protection of child rights, particularly for ensuring and protecting the rights of juveniles detained in state institutions and as NPM, her proposals and recommendation for improving the legislation in this regard.
Events were continued in the atmosphere of lively discussions, numerous questions of children were responded; they were explained their rights and Ombudsman’s competences; juveniles were also provided with legal consultancy on the issues raised by them.
Later on, publications of Ombudsman on child rights and posters with the numbers of hot lines were presented to the facilities.
