Elmira Suleymanova, the Commissioner for Human Rights received Ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the State of Qatar to the Republic of Azerbaijan Yusif bin Hasan Yusif al-Sai.
The Commissioner informed the guest about the work done by the Ombudsman Office for protection of human rights, cooperation with the state bodies, civil society and international organizations.
The Commissioner added that on July 4, 2017, Armenian armed forces targeted and deliberately attacked the civilians and civilian entities in Alkhanli village of Fuzuli district of Azerbaijan with 82 and 120 mm mortars and heavy grenade launchers, as a result, the aged Allahverdiyeva Sahiba born in 1967 and her 2 years old granddaughter Guliyeva Zahra died, another woman civilian Guliyeva Salminaz born in 1965 was heavily injured and civilian entities were destroyed. It was told that the Statement in this regard was sent to international organizations, and Ombudsmen of foreign countries, information about this incident was given to participants of international Forum where she participated.
The Ambassador thanked the Commissioner for warm reception, and noted that there is cooperation in a number of fields between Qatar and Azerbaijan.
He added that recent unfair sanctions against his country caused problems not only in socio-economic sphere, but also in public life in the Gulf countries. As a result rights of citizens of Qatar living in those countries were violated.
The Commissioner noted the importance of cooperation between two states in the field of human rights along with other rights.
