Members of Sheki Regional Center held investigation in Sheki city children home of mixed type

Upon the information spread by Sahib Teymurov, head of “Uşaq evlərinə qayğı” Public Union that Aysel Huseynova living in Sheki city children`s home of mixed type was subjected to torture, the members of Ombudsman’s Sheki Regional Center conducted investigation following the instruction of the Commissioner.

Ilhama Mammadova, Director of the Institution said that Mirvari Asgarova works in the institution as a tutor and she never ill-treated or tortured Aysel Huseynova.

A private meeting was held with A. Huseynova as well. She said that never had been exposed to torture by any tutor, always felt care by the director and tutors.

Later A. Huseynova added that Sahib Teymurov was in the children’s home and had meetings with children. During the private meeting with her he said that if you repeat all what I say, I will give you 20 AZN and asked to keep this conversation in secret. Thus, A. Huseynova repeated what she had been told by S. Teymurov and said that had been subjected to torture by her tutor, and wanted to commit a suicide which was recorded by S. Teymurov. She was given 20 AZN as promised.

During the visit other children in the institution were also privately met. They noted that never had been exposed to ill-treatment or torture.

Acts were drafted by members of Sheki Regional Center about the results of the visit which were signed by A. Huseynova and other people met.

The director of the institution also added that she had appealed to Sheki City Police Department about this case.
