An event dedicated to the 94th anniversary of national leader Heydar Aliyev was held at the Ombudsman Office. The representatives of Ganja, Sheki, Guba and Jalilabad Regional Center also attended the event.
In her speech the Commissioner noted during the administration of Heydar Aliyev important measures had been taken, relevant legislative acts had been adopted, Orders and Decrees had been signed on human rights and freedoms. In 1995 the pardoning institute was restored in the country, from 1995-2003 32 Pardoning Acts and Decrees were signed.
She added Heydar Aliyev’s contribution to creation of the Ombudsman Office in the country is undeniable. Adoption of the Constitutional law on the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan was a turning point in human rights.
Heads of Ombudsman’s Regional Centers noted events would be held in regions dedicated to the 94th anniversary of Heydar Aliyev.
