Ombudsman’s North, South, West, and Northwest Regional Centers held a series of events on the occasion of June 18 – national Human Rights Day.
During the events, it was highlighted that on June 18, 1998, the National Leader Heydar Aliyev approved the first 'State Program on the Protection of Human Rights' in our country, establishing the protection of human rights as one of the main directions of state policy. It was also noted that June 18 was established a national Human Rights Day in the Republic of Azerbaijan by the Decree of President Ilham Aliyev dated June 18, 2007.
It was also noted that traditionally, every year, the period from May 18 to June 18 is declared as 'Human Rights Month' across the country by the Ombudsman, during which various awareness-raising events on current human rights issues are held in the capital and regions.
