New Monitoring Groups were created within the Ombudsman Office

Pursuant to the amendments to the Constitutional Law on Ombudsman of Azerbaijan, the mandate of the Commissioner was expanded to more effectively protect human rights and freedoms. 

In accordance with the competences designated, at the initiative of the Ombudsman, independent monitoring groups were created within the Office for the implementation of CRPD and CRC and ensuring equality and non-discrimination. 

The main purpose in the establishment of these monitoring groups is to perform functions of independent monitoring mechanisms for the promotion of execution of both conventions, as well as ensuring equality and preventing discrimination.
