The Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Ombudsman Institution of Azerbaijan jointly organized a conference on the theme “Great Leader Heydar Aliyev and Human Rights Reforms in Azerbaijan”.
The executives and employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Ombudsman, Sabina Aliyeva and staff members of the Office, parliamentarians, and other public figures took part in the event.
The conference participants firstly paid tribute to the dearest memory of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev, by visiting his monument, and afterwards, got acquainted with the Heydar Aliyev Center. The event has commenced with the national anthem.
Tapdig Amiraslanov, Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations, in his welcoming speech spoke about the life journey of the Great Leader, Heydar Aliyev, including his service accomplishments for the welfare of the people of Azerbaijan.
He said that the National Leader Heydar Aliyev laid robust foundations for the democratic and legal statehood in our country and played a pivotal role in protecting human rights and freedoms as a public policy and that, in general, these reforms became tremendous for the development of society and the state.
The Ombudsman, Sabina Aliyeva, during her speech, noted that the National Leader Heydar Aliyev has played an important role in establishing the institutional basis for the emergency authorities, who also lead the development of a strategic approach to the management of emergency situations.
The Ombudsman said that the National Leader laid the foundation for the multiple reforms to develop public-political, social and economic, legal, and other fields in Azerbaijan.
S. Aliyeva emphasized that the National Leader’s legal reforms carried out in Azerbaijan facilitated the speeding up of the integration of the national legal system with the international system, laying down the basis for the establishment of effective mechanisms for the protection of rights and freedoms of citizens. The Ombudsman also highlighted that the Ombudsman Institution, protecting human rights as a supreme goal of the state, has been established at the initiative of the National Leader, Heydar Aliyev.
The Ombudsman said that multifaceted policy carried out by the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev successfully continued by the country’s President Ilham Aliyev in compliance with priority challenges, adding that a number of accomplishments in the field of human rights have been achieved in recent years.
Later, the parliamentarians and others made speeches and shared their views about the National Leader.
At the end of the event, a documentary film titled “Death penalty – Life Punishment.”
