The delegation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission (IPHRC), led by Mr. Muhammad Lawal Sulaiman, who is on an official visit in the country upon the invitation of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Sabina Aliyeva, carried out a joint fact-finding mission in Fuzuli.
The purpose of the mission is an on-site investigation of the religious and cultural monuments, which are located in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan and have been subjected to rocket attacks, the facts of Azerbaijanis graves destruction and the preparation of a results-based report to present to the international community.
In Fuzuli, the delegation monitored the residential buildings, civil objects, and religious, cultural, and historical properties destroyed during the occupation period by the Armed Forces of Armenia. The Garakhanbeyli cemeteries, Merdinli Mosque, as well as social and cultural objects in the historical downtown of the city, which were also demolished, have been inspected.
The delegation visited the Fuzuli International Airport, a new settlement in the city, and general secondary education school No. 1, named after Mirza Ulugbey, as well.
The delegation members met with the residents of Fuzuli, who have suffered as a result of the Armenian occupation, and they were informed of the war crimes committed against the civilian population during the First and Second Karabakh Wars.
