Legal Awareness Activities Conducted for Employees of Psychoneurological Social Service Institutions

The West Regional Center of the Ombudsman of Azerbaijan organized legal awareness activities on the topic of “Mental Health and Human Rights” for staff of Psychoneurological Social Service Institutions under the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Social Service Institution No. 3 Goygol district  and Social Service Institution No. 4 in Ganja city.

The head of the Regional Center, Sabuhi Abbasov, delivered a speech at the events, providing information about activities carried out to protect the rights and ensure the rehabilitation of individuals with mental health disorders. It was noted that a Working Group on “Mental Health and Human Rights” was created under the Ombudsman Office at the initiative of the Ombudsman.

During the events, detailed information was provided on the mandate of the Ombudsman’s National Preventive Mechanism, as well as the amendments to the Constitutional Law “On the Ombudsman of the Republic of Azerbaijan” and the provisions of the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan “On Psychiatric Assistance.” The practical application of these legislative acts was explained, and participants’ questions were answered.
