During the sessions of the meeting, attended by more than 30 representatives of various  countries and international organizations, the staff members of the Azerbaijan Ombudsman Office provided information on the Ombudsman’s mandate in the protection, promotion, and monitoring of the PWDs rights. They also shared insights on the investigation and analysis of complaints, awareness-raising activities, monitoring visits to institutions, the process of establishment of independent monitoring groups, landmine-related disabilities, the Ombudsman’s recommendations regarding the PWDs rights indicated in the latest annual report, as well as the creation of a WG on Mental Health and Human Rights.

In addition, staff members took part in the Global Disability Summit, jointly organized by the German and Jordan Governments and the International Disability Alliance, which brought together nearly 2,000 participants from various countries. During the Summit, broad discussions were held on the creation of inclusive workplaces, ensuring accessibility in education, inclusive infrastructure, and promoting the presentation of PWDs in public life and decision-making processes. As an outcome of the event, the Amman-Berlin Declaration, aimed at achieving global inclusivity, was adopted.
