
The Police Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs regularly organizes awareness-raising events on various topical issues in order to increase professional capacity building, worldview, and ability to apply normative and legal acts by staff of authorities of internal affairs in the protection of human and citizens’ rights and freedoms, as well as to provide them with innovative working methods.
As part of the series of lectures, this seminar was run by a representative of the Ombudsman Office, together with a lecturer, for the senior staff of the district (city) police departments and divisions.The theme of the seminar was “Combating Corruption. Protection of Human Rights in Police Activities, and the Requirements of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and International Normative Legal Acts in This Area.”
At the event, the Head of the Legal Education Unit of the Ombudsman Office, Mugalib Mahmudov, shared insights on the monitoring of the situation regarding the promotion and protection of human rights in Azerbaijan, as well as the anti-corruption reforms. He also spoke about the measures implemented within the framework of the “National Action Program for Increasing the Effectiveness of the Protection of Human Rights and Freedoms in the Republic of Azerbaijan” and the “National Action Plan for Strengthening the Fight Against Corruption for 2022–2026,” along with the activities carried out by the Ombudsman in this regard.
During the training seminar, an interactive discussion was held on the topic, and questions raised by the participants were answered.
