The Ombudsman met with Members of the NGO Coalition Against Human Trafficking

The Ombudsman of Azerbaijan, Sabina Aliyeva, met with Mehriban Zeynalova, the Chairperson of the NGO Coalition Against Human Trafficking. Members of the coalition, Shamsaddin Aliyev and Gulaya Safarova, also attended the meeting.

During the meeting, the Ombudsman emphasized that preventive measures in the fight against human trafficking, increasing public awareness, and protecting the rights of victims remain key priorities. She stressed the importance of the active participation of civil society organizations in these efforts.

The Ombudsman noted that her institution cooperates closely with local non-governmental organizations. She expressed her continued support for collaboration with members of civil society in this field.

The discussions also covered issues such as domestic violence, challenges in providing services to victims of human trafficking, the involvement of children in illegal labor, early marriages, and other related issues. The participants emphasized the importance of taking appropriate measures to improve national legislation in these areas.

The meeting also included an exchange of views on organizing joint future activities and improving coordination between relevant state bodies and public organizations. Proposals for the implementation of these ideas were discussed.

The meeting was continued in a spirit of mutual dialogue.
