
The Ombudsman’s North, South, West, and Northwest regional centers held a series of events, “Role of Religious and Moral Solidarity in Protection of Sovereignty,” “Protecting the Constitional Rights,” and “Heydar Aliyev and Independent Azerbaijan” in Guba, Lankaran, Ganja, and Sheki during the Year of Constitution and Sovereignty.
At the events, the human rights and legal reforms, including the adoption of the first national constitution of Azerbaijan following the regaining of state sovereignty, carried out at the national level under the rule of the National Leader, Heydar Aliyev, were discussed. Furthermore, extensive information was given about main human rights and freedoms set forth in the Constitution and legal protection mechanisms of these rights, especially activity directions of the ombuds institution as an independent human rights protection mechanism, as well as the latest amendments made to the Constitutional Law on the Ombudsman.
In the course of the speeches, the importance of defending the constitutional values was emphasized, and the questions raised by the listeners were answered.
