A joint legal awareness event was organized for diplomatic service representatives

An educational event for diplomatic service representatives was arranged at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) in collaboration with the Ombudsman Office during the "Human Rights Month" that was declared by the Ombudsman of Azerbaijan, Sabina Aliyeva. Aydin Safikhanli, Head of the Ombudsman Office, and Aysel Yagubova, Head of the MFA Department, run the event as speakers.

Throughout the event, A. Safikhanli said that extensive reforms were implemented in the field of human rights protection under the "State Program on the Protection of Human Rights," adopted on June 18, 1998, by the National Leader Heydar Aliyev, which was the first such document. He added that on June 18, 2007, President Ilham Aliyev, who is currently successfully implementing this policy, issued a decree designating this date as Human Rights Day in the Republic of Azerbaijan.

It was also noted that conducting public awareness activities dedicated to various topics of human rights in the capital and regions during the "Human Rights Month" annually announced by the Ombudsman, as well as related measures taken, are crucial.

After giving the attendees a thorough overview of the Ombudsman's activities in the field of international cooperation, A. Safikhanli ran interactive discussions on the UN's human rights protection mechanisms and the application of humanitarian law principles.

At the event, A. Yagubova, Head of the Department of the MFA, delivered a speech entitled "Heydar Aliyev and the Human Rights Factor in Foreign Policy of Azerbaijan."

Throughout the discussions, questions about the subject from MFA staff members were answered.
