
The Police Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs hosted a round table on “The Constitution in the Republic of Azerbaijan" is a legal foundation in ensuring sovereignty and human rights” during the Human Rights Month, declared by Sabina Aliyeva, the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of Azerbaijan, as a part of the “Constitution and Sovereignty.”
The event had brought together the representatives of the Law and Human Rights Institution, professors and academic staff of the Police Academy, cadets and master students. The Ombudsman institution was represented by Mugalib Mahmudov, head of the Legal Education Unit. He made a speech related to the topic when it was noted the purpose of Human Rights Month, which covers the period of May 18 to June18, was to develop legal thinking and culture in society and strenghen combating discrimination, corruption, violence, and other negative incidents, as well as harmful habits.
Furthermore, the participants were informed of the reforms for effective implementation of human rights and freedoms, promoting the Constitution and sovereignty as values, the legal status, competences, and large-scale activities of the Ombudsman.
A large interactive debate was held during which the questions of the participants were answered.
