The International Symposium of Ombudsmen has begun its work

At the initiative of the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Republic of Azerbaijan (Ombudsman), the International Symposium of Ombudsmen on "Strengthening the Rule of Law: The Role of Ombudsmen and National Human Rights Institutions" has begun its work in Baku, dedicated to the "Year of Constitution and Sovereignty" and June 18 - Human Rights Day in the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The international event had brought together ombudspersons, heads and representatives of national human rights institutions from about 15 countries, high-ranking state officials, parliamentarians, representatives of international organizations, civil society organizations, and human rights experts.

The symposium will feature panel sessions on ensuring the enforcement of constitutional rights through ombudsmen and NHRIs, ensuring equal rights for everyone: good practices and challenges, and strengthening international cooperation and best practices in strenghening international and best practices in protecting refugee rights.
