The Human Rights Commissioner (Ombudsman), Sabina Aliyeva, participated in the semi-finals of the V 'Rise' Competition.
During her speech, the Ombudsman said that the formation and development of competitive human capital in Azerbaijan has been identified as one of the priority goals and that this competition, running according to the corresponding Presidential Order, shapes strategic management culture and creates broad opportunities for skillful personnel to participate in the development of state.
The Ombudsman emphasized the adoption of state programs, strategies and action plans for the development of comprehensive development of human capital, and reforms are being constantly implemented in the country. It was noted that the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan recognizes ensuring human rights and liberties as a highest objective of the state and that the establishment of the ombuds institution with constitutional status in order to implement this objective is clear evidence of the highest value placed on human rights in our country.
Providing information about the activities carried out to protect human and civil rights and freedoms, the Ombudsman added that, based on international experiences, her mandate has been expanded and cooperation with state bodies, civil society, and international organizations has been strengthened.
Speaking about the development of legal thought and legal culture and activities in the field of promoting the rights of various population groups, the Ombudsman noted that human rights and children's rights month long-campaigns are announced in Azerbaijan every year, and numerous legal awareness events covering topical issues are held.
The Ombudsman noted that regular meetings are held with the winners of the "Rise" competition, of which she is a mentor, and that the involvement of them in the institution’s activities creates a favorable opportunity for the development of their management skills in a real legal and institutional environment, as well as for them to participate in practical initiatives for protecting the rights of vulnerable population groups.
