Educational material on the prohibition of hate speech and xenophobia has been prepared on the initiative of the Ombudsman

One of the important activities of the Human Rights Commissioner (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan is related to ensuring equality and preventing discrimination.

The right to equal treatment and non-discrimination, as well as freedom of expression, is one of the fundamental human rights and freedoms.

In order to increase public awareness in this direction, on the initiative of Ombudsman Sabina Aliyeva, a special educational material called "The principle of prohibition of discrimination and the role of ombudsman in the context of fighting against hate speech and xenophobia" was prepared.

In the said document, extensive information is provided about the concept, types, and grounds of hate speech, the norms established in the existing international documents in the field of elimination of hate speech and discrimination, applied advanced international practices are analyzed, as well as detailed information is presented on the directions of activities carried out by Ombudsman in this direction.
