Within the “Year of the Constitution and Sovereignty,” the Ombudsman’s West Regional Center, jointly with the Ganja-Dashkasan Regional Branch of the State Committee on Works with Religious Associations, organized an event titled “Religions call for peace and empathy” in Ganja city on the occasion of the 21 September – International Day of Peace.
During his speech, the Head of the Regional Center, Sabuhi Abbasov, spoke about the religious tolerance environment existing in Azerbaijan, as well as initiatives for regional and international peace made by our state. He provided information about the legal framework regulating religion and state relations. The Ombudsman’s mandate and current activities in the field of ensuring equality and non-discrimination that facilitate mutual understanding and peace in society were also brought to the attention of the participants.
The event ended with interactive discussions and exchange of views. Participants’ questions were answered.
