Sabina Aliyeva, the Ombudsperson of Azerbaijan, took part in the presentation ceremony of the book "Shusha – Historical and Cultural Heritage," by Professor Elchin Ahmadov, that was organized by the Turkish Culture and Heritage Foundation within the framework of the 11th Baku International Book Fair.

In her speech, the Ombudsperson stated that Shusha, which is a pearl of Azerbaijani history and the entire Turkic world, was liberated from occupation as a result of the Victory achieved in the Second Karabakh War under the leadership of the Victorious Supreme Commander Ilham Aliyev. The Ombudsperson noted that the declaration of 2022 as the “Year of Shusha” by the relevant presidential decree signed is a clear manifestation of the historical and spiritual significance this city holds for our people.

Sabina Aliyeva stated that in the post-war period, restoration and reconstruction works in Shusha have been successfully carried out under the leadership of the First Vice-President and President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Mehriban Aliyeva.

The Ombudsperson also emphasized that the declaration of Shusha as the “Cultural Capital of the Turkic World” for 2023 at the meeting of the Permanent Council of Culture Ministers of TURKSOY member countries held in Bursa, Türkiye, confirms the city’s significance at the international level.

The Ombudsperson highlighted that the book “Shusha – Historical Cultural Heritage,” presented today, extensively sheds light on Shusha’s rich history, strategic, and cultural importance based on scholarly research. She noted that the book will make an important contribution to conveying the historical truths about Shusha to both local and international audiences.

After the presentation ceremony, the Ombudsperson reviewed the stand in the exhibition.
