An international scientific and practical conference on the topic "Inclusive Higher Education: Academic Mobility and Accessibility of International Education" was held at the Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC). The event was dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the UNEC Inclusive Education Center.
The conference brought together local and foreign experts of inclusive education to discuss strategies in the field, opportunities for digital transformation, and challenges related to the application of artificial intelligence.
Muqalib Mahmudov, Head of the Legal Education Unit of the Ombudsperson’s Office, participated in the conference.
During his speech, M. Mahmudov emphasized that creating equal educational opportunities for everyone is one of the priorities of state policy, and that necessary steps have been taken to prevent discrimination in education in accordance with the Constitution, other legislative acts, and international commitments.
Furthermore, information was provided on the Ombudsperson’s monitoring activities to protect and promote the right to education, including the recommendations made to improve the legal framework for inclusive education, and training of qualified specialists in pedagogical and other fields. The importance of creating accessible conditions for persons with disabilities in educational institutions in accordance with the principles of universal design was also noted.
