The Ombudsperson of Azerbaijan, Sabina Aliyeva, initiated conducting another training on the topic "Protection of the Right to Information." This time, the event was held at Baku DOST Center No. 5 for department heads, division heads, and other officials of the State Medical-Social Expertise and Rehabilitation Agency under the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population (MLSPP).
Lamiya Zeynalova, Head of the Department for Protection of the Right to Access to Information at the Ombudsman Office, kicked off with opening remarks. She gave a thorough introduction to both national and international laws pertaining to this right.
In the course of the training, office staff briefed the participants about the obligations of information owners arising from the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On Access to Information," the features of exerting control over the performance of these duties, certain pragmatic concerns pertaining to the law's implementation, consideration of applications received regarding violations of the right to access information, and the Ombudsman's authority to draft a protocol.
Lastly, participants were given instructional written materials about the right to access information that were created on the Ombudsman's initiative.
