A visit was conducted to the Integration Training Boarding School No. 11

Within the framework of the Azerbaijani Ombudsman’s National Preventive Mechanism and the Independent Monitoring Mechanism, a monitoring visit was made to the Integration Training Boarding School No. 11.

The purpose of the visit was to inspect the treatment of children held at the institution, the protection of their rights, the conditions provided, the quality of services offered, and their compliance with legal requirements.

During the visit, it was revealed that although there was a medical staff vacancy at the institution, it had not been filled. Furthermore, it was observed that the household items used by the children were in unsatisfactory condition and did not meet the required standards, and it was recommended that measures be taken to replace them.

Also, individual interviews were conducted with the residents of the institution to learn their opinions about the current conditions and the quality of the services provided.

An educational meeting was organized for the children, where they were thoroughly informed about their rights and responsibilities, the CRC requirements, the nature of legal violations, and the legal consequences of such violations. In addition, broad information was provided about the Ombudsperson’s powers and activities to protect the children's rights. Legal educational publications prepared by the Ombudsperson’s initiative were presented to the facility.

At the conclusion of the visit, relevant recommendations were made to the institution's management, and a legal awareness discussion was held.
