The Azerbaijan State Pedagogical College under the Azerbaijan State University of Education held an event on the theme "National Leader Heydar Aliyev is the author of the Constitution of independent Azerbaijan" at the initiative of the Ombudsman of Azerbaijan, Sabina Aliyeva, during the "Year of Constitution and Sovereignty". 

Before the event, the Ombudsman Institution’s legal educational publications and documents reflecting the facts about the refugees from Armenia of our compatriots in the last century were exhibited.

During her opening remarks, Ombudsman Sabina Aliyeva said that the first Constitution of independent Azerbaijan, which was adopted on November 12, 1995, was drafted under the leadership of Great Leader Heydar Aliyev and established the provision of human and civil rights and freedoms as the supreme goal of the state.

The Ombudsman also said that the statehood strategy of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev, which was successfully continued by the country’s President, Ilham Aliyev, led to the full restoration of sovereignty of our country, and serious achievements have been made in the field of human rights protection.

The Ombudsman noted that during the "Year of the Constitution and Sovereignty", the Ombudsman Institution held a series of legal awareness events in the capital and regions. She said that today's event serves to deepen students' legal knowledge on constitutional and sovereignty issues and to develop legal thinking and legal culture. 

Sabina Aliyeva also provided information about the activities of the Ombudsman in the field of protection of human rights and freedoms. She noted that the Ombudsman institution has fruitful cooperation with educational institutions in Azerbaijan, and within the framework of this cooperation, representatives of the institution continuously support the improvement of legal knowledge of students.
