A meeting with repatriated persons was held

On 12 January 2026, five citizens of Azerbaijan (a mother and her four children) were repatriated from the Syrian Arab Republic to Azerbaijan.

The Ombudsman’s representatives visited the repatriated individuals, who were placed in the relevant institution of the Social Services Agency under the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population.

During the meeting, the situation regarding the protection of the repatriates’ rights was assessed;  existing problems and needs were identified, and recommendations were provided on their integration into society, as well as access to education and employment opportunities.

The repatriates were also given comprehensive information about the Ombudsman’s mandate, areas of work, application procedures to the institution, and the existing protection mechanisms.
