A training concerning the enforcement of international, regional, and national human rights legal instruments

A training on ‘Enforcement of International, Regional, and National Human Rights Legal Instruments’ was organized for employees of the Ministry of Science and Education and its subordinate institutions.

At the training, Aynur Hamidova, acting head of the Department for Work on the Rights of Population Groups of the Ombudsman Office of Azerbaijan, delivered a presentation emphasizing the importance of increasing the capacity of public servants in the field of human rights and enforcement of international human rights standards in their daily professional work. It was noted that a human rights–based approach promotes greater transparency, accountability, and public satisfaction in public administration.

During the event, Adil Eyvazov, Deputy Head of Department and Head of the Unit for the Protection of Economic, Social and Cultural Rights at the Ombudsman Office, delivered a speech addressing the protection of economic, social and cultural rights, including the right to education, within the framework of international and national legal mechanisms. 

Acting as trainers, Mugalib Mahmudov, Head of the Legal Education Unit at the Office, and Aydan Talibova, Chief Adviser of the Unit, also spoke on the concept and fundamental principles of human rights, the mandate of the ombuds institution, the UN human rights system, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and commitments undertaken by the Republic of Azerbaijan under the core international treaties, as well as the implementation of these standards in public administration.

The training was conducted in an interactive format, during which participants’ questions were addressed in detail.
