The Human Rights Commissioner, Sabina Aliyeva, participated in the closing ceremony of the “Shine with Your Rights!” project, run by the “Regional Development” Public Union (RIB).
In her address, the Ombudsman highlighted the protection of child rights as one of the priorities for public policy. She noted the child protection policy laid by the National Leader Heydar Aliyev is successfully carried out by the country President İlham Aliyev and that consistent measures are being taken to create a secure and healthy environment for children and their comprehensive development.
The Ombudsman also emphasized a number of significant projects, initiated and implemented by the First Vice-President, Mehriban Aliyeva, and Heydar Aliyev to increase child welfare and strengthen social protection of children with special needs. It was noted that the construction and fundamental renovation of educational, healthcare and social infrastructures complying with contemporary standards located in different parts of our country, including the liberated areas facilitated further accessibility of children to quality services.
The Ombudsman noted the child protection policy as one of her main activity directions and that complaints about the violations of children are expediently investigated and monitoring is conducted. Furthermore, broad awareness-raising activities in urban and rural areas of the country in order to increase legal knowledge of children, their parents, and all specialists working in this field.
During her speech, she also noted the consideration of recommendations by the Ombudsman made to the new draft laws “On the Rights of the Child “of Azerbaijan and “The National Action Plan on the Implementation of the Child Strategy for 2026-2030.”
The Ombudsman emphasized the importance of the project, which strengthens the effective coordination among the public institutions, private entities, and civil society, as well as the efficiency promotion of children’s rights.
In conclusion, addressing the children, the Ombudsman underlined knowing not only their rights but also responsibilities towards society, and wished them success in their education. She also called upon the society to join efforts for a further healthy and secure society.
This must be noted that within the project of the Public Union, the staff of the Ombudsman Office participated in the events as experts, along with the counterpart public institutions across the country.
At the end, pupils who were active during the project were awarded.
