The officials of the Social Services Agency under the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population were trained about the “Protection of the Right to Access Information”

The officials of the Social Services Agency under the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population, as well as the heads of its subordinate institutions, were trained about how to protect the right to access information. The training was initiated by Sabina Aliyeva, the Human Rights Commissioner of Azerbaijan. 

During the training, Lamiya Zeynalova, Head of the Department for the Protection of the Right to Access Information of the Ombudsman Office, informed the trainees about the international and national legal frameworks in the field of access to information, as well as about the duties of state authorities and other information holders in this regard.

Subsequently, trainers from the Ombudsman Office informed the participants about the Commissioner’s supervisory functions in monitoring the fulfillment by information holders of the obligations arising from the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan “On Access to Information,” as well as about the Ombudsman’s authority to draw up administrative offence protocols in cases where the requirements of the legislation are violated.

During the event, a relevant video clip was demonstrated, and a presentation was delivered on educational materials and methodological guides to promote the right to access information.

Overall, the trainers answered the questions of the participants.
