Monitoring visits were carried out in educational institutions in the Guba and Gusar districts through the Ombudsman’s independent monitoring mechanism (IMM).

During monitoring visits carried out by staff of the Ombudsman Office, the situation regarding the protection of children’s rights and incidents of discrimination was assessed at Secondary School No. 1 named after Karim Karimov and General Secondary School No. 2 named after Dair Shahbazov in Hil village of Gusar district, as well as at the general-purpose boarding-type secondary school in Guba and the Guba Vocational School.

During the monitoring visits, the administrative premises of the institutions were inspected, and, in accordance with legally defined areas of activity, the implementation of the right to education, attendance, behavior, anti-violence mechanisms, and other service quality requirements were reviewed.

Furthermore, awareness-raising meetings on the protection of children’s rights were held at the institutions with the participation of students and staff, their questions were addressed, and educational materials were distributed.

Following the monitoring visits, the findings and identified shortcomings were discussed with the management of the institutions, and appropriate recommendations were made to improve the protection of children’s rights and interests.
