During the nationwide "Human Rights Month" long-campaign initiated by the Ombudsman of Azerbaijan, Sabina Aliyeva, a training was organized for junior football players and coaching staff of "Sabah" Football Club. The training focused on the theme “The Protection of Child Rights: Promoting Equality and Safe Sport Environment.”
The trainer in this session was Azer Isali, a senior adviser in the Child Rights Protection Unit of the Ombudsman Institution. The trainer provided the junior trainees detailed information on the importance of the protection of children’s rights in sport, establishing constructive dialogue between coaches and young athletes, adhering to ethical conduct, preventing bullying, peer violence, and harassment among children, and fostering an inclusive and safe sportive environment free of discrimination.
Furthermore, the attendees were presented real-life scenarios involving potential child rights violations within sports settings. The young athletes were detailed the correct behavioral guidelines and appropriate legal safeguards to be followed in such circumstances, including the Ombudsman’s explicit mandate and activity directions in the field of child rights protection.
